I've lived here over 30 years and still find new, extraordinary beauty in places where I've walked for all that time. The spirit of Hornby is the island itself. This small bit of sandstone and conglomerate, worn by the sea and wind, is home to such natural diversity. When my grandson, Dzintars, was quite small we were rambling in the garden and he found a large, lovely snail and had it creeping on his hand. He asked, Gramma, can I keep it? I said, No, it is alive and belongs to itself. He thought a bit and said, I can't have it, but I can look at it with my own eyes. In this disparate community, the unity we've had is the gift of loving this place
